Born in Watertown, New York, Richard LaClaire was educated at the State University of New York at Brockport. A student of Wendell Castle and Robert Marx, he refined fascinations with organic sculpture and printmaking technique, graduating in 1976. After careers as a furniture craftsman, musician, t-shirt artist, and precision silk-screen technician, he has returned to his original media, sculpture and printmaking. Raised in rural northern New York, a love of the outdoors drew him to the abstract beauty of natural forms, their repetition and contrast to the human condition. Richard lives in Melbourne Beach, Florida with his wife Donna and two children.
Richard writes Articles for the Melbourne Beachside Resident.
